To Order a New Percussor

New Percussors - Click HERE for the current pricing and order sheet. Foredom currently makes one model of the Massager. It comes with a standard or long shaft. Both are based around a robust motor that moves the pad out and back from the headpiece with speeds ranging from 0-4000 rpm. The speed is controlled by a ¾-turn control with an on/off switch located on the motor base. The model 500 comes with a 39” shaft. The model 500L comes with a slightly longer 66” shaft. The best way to decide on the length you want is to determine where you want the motor base to be while you are working. The model 500 with the 39” shaft usually means the motor base will be on a stool or on the table with your patient. The model 500L with the 66” shaft allows the motor base to be on the floor while still reaching the patient.

The 500-2 (39” shaft) and 500L-2 (66” shaft) are 220-volt models. These come with a power cord with the proper plug for your country. There is no cost difference between these models; however, I do not keep them in stock. There will be a small delay after ordering before I receive them from Foredom and have them shipped to you. I will need to know what kind of plug (power port) you use - England, Central Europe, etc.- to order the correct plug for you. To choose your plug type, please visit this webpage and let us know the letter designation for your power outlets. We can then order your percussor from Foredom.

Upgrades

We can also perform modifications to the percussor speed control – by replacing the standard ¾-turn speed control with a precision, linear taper 10-turn speed control, a separate on/off switch, and then recalibrating the minimum and maximum speed, we can give you much more precise and tight control over your percussor's speed and therapeutic effectiveness. It takes the percussor to an advanced treatment level and opens new avenues for your patient’s healing process.

The standard percussor can be used in a few ways…

a) It can be used as a massager, with the pad deeply contacting the patient's body and the vibration of the head going directly into the tissues.

b) It can be used as a gentler, more specific machine, where the head of the percussor only contacts the patient at the end of the stroke. It is like a tap at the end of the cycle.

The updated percussor, because it has more control over the speed, can be used in the ways “a" and "b" mentioned above with more precision, and:

c) Off the body. The processor creates a standing wave (like a speaker) with the head vibrating in the air. That standing wave (which is technically a sound wave) carries energy, just like the sound from a speaker. That energy can be used to treat and release tight tissue within a patient. While this can be achieved with the unmodified processor, it is far easier to achieve the precise frequency (or its harmonic) with the more precise speed control. This opens up a completely different avenue of treatment.

*** Regarding upgrades: I will not talk you through how to modify your own percussor. Nor will I send you the parts to do it yourself. Please don’t take offense to this, but understand that I am responsible for the outcome either way (either directly or by reputation). I want to ensure that your percussor perfoms to a high standard, and my way to make that happen is to do it myself.

When the percussor arrives to you from Foredom, the factory speed control switch allows you to turn on the unit and adjust the speed from zero to 4,000 rpm in ¾ of a turn of the knob. This gets you to every speed the percussor can do in ¾ of a turn. This is demonstrated in the above video:

The upgrade replaces the old speed control with a 10-turn linear-taper speed control and a separate on/off switch. This means that each full turn is now 1/10 of the total speed of the motor - or roughly 400 rpm per turn. It provides much more precise control over speed and opens the door to more treatment options. This is demonstrated in the above video:

Repairs

If you already own a Foredom Percussor and it needs service or an overhaul, this is the place to get it serviced. We can troubleshoot and perform the following repairs:

- Lubrication/cleaning of the motor, shaft, shaft housing, and head piece (this is recommended on any new percussor to extend the life of the components).

- Replacement of broken/damaged parts.

- Replacement of the pad and/or pad holder.

- Replacement of the hand piece (this can sometimes be repaired).

- Replacement of the shaft and shaft housing – either with the same length or a longer/shorter length if available.

- Replacement of the motor brushes.

- Replacement of the motor brush housing.

- Replacement of faulty/worn out switches or speed controls.

- Repair and/or replacement of electrical cords.

- Replacement/upgrade of motor control circuit boards.

- Conversion of a currently owned 120-volt percussor to 220-volt circuitry with appropriate power cord for international use in your country.

Much of the initial and routine maintenance can be performed yourself (if you purchased your upgraded percussor from me, it has already been performed). Cleaning and lubricating the head and shaft, and replacing the bushings, require only a small amount of mechanical knowledge. If you wish to try it yourself, here is a short guide to the steps. If you get stuck or need more done than you are comfortable doing on your own, please send your unit in for service.

If you are attempting to replace the pad on your machine, the replacement pad does not come with adhesive. You can use hot glue or two-sided carpet tape (my choice and fairly easy to use) to get the pad to stick to the holder. If you need help with this part, please send me an email.
